The starting point
Headformers work with athletes on mental preparation. But a psychologist can’t be there every time an athlete needs one, for example the night before a game.
Goal: an AI coach that leads the conversation using psychologists’ methods and knows when to stop.
Why an AI coach
Three ways to bring psychology to athletes.
| Sessions only | Generic chatbot | AI coach Luka | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Availability | by appointment | always | always |
| Expertise | full | generic | psychologists’ methods |
| Sensitive topics | handled by a person | risky | limits and fallback |
| Scaling | limited by time | no quality control | no extra staff |
What we built
Analysis and prototype
Solution architecture and a first prototype to test the conversations.
Decision trees
A conversation engine that leads the conversation using psychologists’ methods, with automatic checks.
Python backend
API, Supabase, Claude API, conversation memory and summaries.
Character and limits
Luka has his own character, an athlete profile and clear limits on sensitive topics.
Exercises and recommendations
The agent collects signals from the chat and the app and picks exercises that appear for the athlete, with a notification as a reminder.
Routines, account and subscription
Morning and evening routines with onboarding, sign-in, payment gateway and subscription. Data is anonymized and we don’t collect it without consent.
